The Echo/Vascular/Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for daily operations of the sonographic department, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The sonographer always maintains a high standard of medical ethics and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities include coordinating program activities to ensure consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations in support of hospital goals and objectives; leading the development, implementation, ongoing assessment and improvement of Sonography programs, patient-care protocols, standards of care, policies and procedures; performing all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician; preparing preliminary reports and contacting referring physicians as required; engaging with both internal and external partners to advance the SPMC mission and vision; participating in professional groups/associations; and performing special projects and other related duties as assigned.Staff Member Responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships, communicating a compelling vision and direction, demonstrating effective management skills, developing self and others, driving results, fostering an environment of trust and integrity, leading innovation, managing change, and thinking strategically.Organizational Responsibilities include supporting the Summit Pacific Medical Center mission, vision and values; complying with SPMC policies and procedures; and conducting themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner at all times.Required Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program with a grade of “C” or above; 12 months of experience preferred including routine, vascular, OB/GYN and breast ultrasonography.Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Certification of completion from an ARDMS accredited program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography; Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) preferred or obtained within 18 months of hire (SPI and AB); BLS certification within 90 days of hire.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Advanced working knowledge of sonography practices; advanced working knowledge of sonography department operations and services; ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, caregivers, patients and community members; strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills; proficient in the use of current technology including Microsoft Office products; professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments requiring independent judgment, systems-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.Physical Requirements include lifting and carrying various weights, sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, exposure to bloodborne pathogens, crouching, and normal vision, hearing, and speech with or without corrective devices.Work Shift: TECH Contract 8 hour shifts in a 40 hour work week.Working Location: Elma, Washington.Benefits: Competitive compensation, medical, prescription, dental (including orthodontia), vision, healthcare FSA and daycare FSA, daycare subsidized benefit, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), short- and long-term disability, generous employer 403b match contributions for retirement, 457 retirement account for additional funds, employee assistance program (EAP), tuition reimbursement, smoking cessation assistance, employee wellness program, employee committees, on-site gym, instructor led fitness classes, walking trails on site.Additional Information: Summit Pacific is a vibrant and expanding nonprofit public hospital district serving east Grays Harbor County, Washington.
